ÖBB Nightjet is Austrian Federal Railways' night-train brand and Europe's largest sleeper network, connecting Austria with Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Benelux, Poland, Hungary and Croatia. It expanded rapidly after Deutsche Bahn withdrew from the night-train business in December 2016, taking over several former DB routes. Since 2023 it has been rolling out new-generation carriages with mini-cabins and ensuite showers on its core long-haul lines.

Mix of refurbished 'Comfortline' cars and new-generation Siemens Viaggio Comfort carriages (rolling out from 2023) with private ensuite Comfort/Comfort Plus cabins, couchettes and seats.
Free baggage carried in the cabin or overhead rack; no strict weight limit but must be manageable by the passenger.
No formal check-in; board at the platform, conductor checks ticket and ID at or after departure.
Refund/exchange rules vary by fare tier; cheapest promotional fares are largely non-refundable, flexible fares can be changed for a fee.
Paris–Vienna and Paris–Berlin Nightjet services were discontinued in December 2025, along with the Munich/Vienna–La Spezia routes. Several German routes were diverted via Munich in 2026 due to engineering works between Nuremberg and Linz.
Rail passes
Rail passes are accepted but a compulsory reservation fee and couchette/sleeper supplement apply; private Comfort/Comfort Plus cabins have limited pass allocation.
